Two parents connected to Sacred Heart Catholic School in Spencer shared how education savings accounts in Iowa have impacted their families.
Ashley Jones pointed out the independence they provide:
We decided to switch to Sacred Heart 1 year before we knew completely how ESA would impact our family from a financial standpoint.
The decision to transition from an excellent public school to a faith based education was heavily considered by our family. We saw the additional benefits, such K-6 in one building, offering opportunities for peer mentorship and leadership as well as daily impact on our family time. We enjoy how our children’s faith has grown and their pride in mass participation. From this, they have encouraged us to seek out additional participation in the church outside of school and our entire family has more faith based conversations.
This year it is especially impactful for our family as we add another child to our family and anticipate additional associated expenses. The ESA has offered families more independence to choose what is best for us and our children. I also believe it will open up future opportunities for schools like Sacred Heart to serve families in different ways. For that, we are grateful.
Scarlett shared her family wouldn’t have even considered applying if it were not for education savings accounts.
One of the things I was really looking forward to when we found out we were moving from SD to IA was the possibility of our kids attending a Catholic school. I say “possibility” because I knew there was a waiting list, but we were hopeful since we’d reached out more than a year in advance. Honestly, we wouldn’t have even tried to pursue private school if we had to pay out of pocket, so having the ESA has truly been a blessing for our family!
