Nate Miller, the interim principal/head of school at Hillcrest Academy in Kalona, Iowa recently shared a story about how education savings accounts helped turn around a student who dreaded school!
We have a family whose daughter spent all of 4th and 5th grade dreading school. She would pretend to be sick so she didn’t have to go to school. The culture of her classrooms was not healthy. ESA funding made it possible for her family to send her to Hillcrest in 6th grade (we are a 6-12 school). She qualifies for free school lunch and would not be able to afford tuition on her own. Now she is loving school so much that she insists on going to school even when she is sick. The change in environment has enabled her to thrive.
I’m sure this young lady is not alone. ESAs provide families opportunity to choose the best environment for their student so they can thrive!
Great story and we would love to hear more of them. Share yours here or by sending me an email at shane@415communications.com.
